Campus Safety

Going off to college is often the first time a student is away from their parents for an extended period of time. Although we can never take the place of a parent, we can still make sure our students are safe! Here are three ways how:

University Police

Our Police are always roaming our campus to have a presence and to make sure everything is safe and secure. With the headquarters located in the center of our campus, our police have one of the fastest response times! Visit their website HERE if you're interested in seeing all that they do for our community.

Also for emergencies, our university police can be reached at 678-915-5555

SPSU Hornet Card

Our Hornet Card is how students get access to different areas around campus. The  Hornet Card is required for residents to key into the main entrances of every first year building, each floor located in Howell, and each suite door in Hornet Village. Using the Hornet Card access system we are able to easily control who has access into our buildings and who does not! A residents hornet card is programmed only for the building in which they live in, and the floor/door for their individual room.

If you are wanting to visit a resident on campus or if you are a resident and would like to have a visitor, please note that your visitor is NOT allowed to take your hornet card. Please see the Guide of Residential Living for our visitation policies.

For more info on the Hornet Card and its many other functions for our campus, visit their website HERE!

Resident Assistants

Resident assistants (RAs) are usually the first point of contact for our residents. These students have been the first year student on campus before and understand some of the questions and challenges they may have in their adjustment to a new community. RAs are there to help! From academic questions, to issues with a roommate, or sometimes just needing someone to talk to, our RAs are there. We strategically place three RAs on every first year floor, so regradless of when a resident is in need, an RA will be available.

To see who your RA may be, visit the Meet Our Staff page.
